Paddling into autumn

Autumn is well on its way, and – although the clocks haven’t been turned back yet – it’s clearly noticeable that the days are getting shorter and shorter. These canoeists on the river Wye must have also realised this as they were paddling back after a long trip on the peacefully meandering water. Perhaps they had to face the darkness after having spent too many of their precious daytime hours admiring the picturesque little market town of Ross-on-Wye, perched high on a hilltop above the river. Or the numerous geese and swans scattered all over the water... One can only hope they found their way back home safely. I, however, can think of worse surroundings to get lost in…
